Most local experiences on ZeMott are not only safe but also life-changing and inspiring.
Just like when you travel anywhere in the world, your personal safety is ultimately your own responsibility.
That said, ZeMott takes your safety seriously and provides systems to help keep the community secure.

Check Profiles and Reviews Carefully

Before joining any event or activity with a TOMODACHI Host, take time to review their profile thoroughly. Read their self-introduction and feedback from other users, and look through all available details. If something feels unclear or makes you uneasy, don’t push yourself — it’s always okay to look for other options.

Trust Your Instincts

If something—or someone—doesn’t feel right, it’s okay to step back. You don’t need to worry about being impolite when protecting your boundaries.

Be clear about what makes you uncomfortable, and if needed, walk away or decide not to join. If you prefer not to be alone, consider joining activities with families or couples for added comfort.

Learn About Local Culture

Before your trip, learn about the customs, religions, and cultural expectations of your destination.
Gender roles and social behavior can vary widely between countries.

Communicate Only Through Official Platforms

Avoid sharing your phone number or personal email before meeting in person.

Keep all communication within the ZeMott platform or app. This ensures that all exchanges are recorded, allowing our Trust & Safety Team to step in quickly if an issue arises.

Know Your Limits

Don’t feel pressured to attend every party or event. Pushing yourself too hard can increase the risk of accidents or misunderstandings. Choose experiences that match your energy and comfort level.

Leave a Review After Each Experience

Writing a review helps make ZeMott safer for everyone. Your honest feedback helps others make informed choices and strengthens community trust.

Report Problems

If something goes wrong or you have concerns, please report it to the ZeMott team. Your report helps protect future members and keeps the community safe. You may also submit anonymous reports if you prefer.

🌍 Safety – Tips

Meeting new people and exploring new places is exciting — but it’s normal to feel uncertain at times. Here are some key tips to help you stay safe and confident during your ZeMott experiences.

1. Prepare Well Before You Go

  • Review the TOMODACHI Host or guest profile carefully. Choose someone with a real name, profile photo, and a well-written introduction.
  • Read reviews to see what other people’s experiences were like.
  • Notice what’s not written — missing details can also tell you something.
  • When joining events, confirm the venue and make sure you understand how to get there, especially if it’s in an unfamiliar area.
  • Female travelers may feel more comfortable choosing female hosts (and vice versa).

2. Communicate Clearly

  • Use ZeMott’s built-in message system before meeting in person. Share personal contact details only after you feel comfortable.
  • Make sure your family or a friend knows where you’re going and how to reach you.
  • Prepare your phone or laptop so you can stay connected locally.
  • Ask questions openly — it helps both sides feel at ease.
    Example questions:
    • How many guests have you hosted before?
    • Is there anything I should be careful about in this area?
  • If something feels off from the start, it’s perfectly fine to look for another host.

💡 If you don’t speak English (or the local language) well, consider using translation tools or apps to communicate smoothly.

3. During the Experience

  • Take a few minutes to chat when you first meet — see if the person feels genuine and matches their profile.
  • If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and act accordingly.
  • If you feel uncomfortable, communicate politely but clearly, and leave if needed.
  • Be mindful of alcohol and avoid drugs — both can lower your ability to make good decisions.
  • Your safety is your own responsibility. Stay aware and don’t rely entirely on others.
  • If you face any danger or emergency, leave immediately and contact local police or emergency services.
Once you’re safe, report the situation to ZeMott’s Safety Support Team.
(All reports are kept confidential and anonymous if requested.)
